An interesting fact is that with plasma and LCD tvs, the fluorescent tubes which create the color display are on all the time. This means they have a hard time recreating black or dark parts of a picture. The light emitting diodes (hence LED tv) can change to a much higher multitude of colors at an instant notice.

POWER CONSUMPTION

EDGE LIT vs BACK LIT LED TVs

There are two types of LED tvs. An edge lit LED tv has the light source on the edge of the tv panel. This is the les costly of the LED televisions and also leads to a thinner television. An edge lit LED tv does not produce black colors quite as well as a back lit LED tv. A back lit LED tv has the light source emanating from behind the flat panel screen and thus creates the best picture possible. These units tend to be more expensive and also are slightly thicker.
